1855 was a disappointing year for Lincoln. Not only did he lose in his Senate campaign, but he was also mocked and humiliated by fellow lawyers in the McCormick v. Manny case. Whenever I face personal setbacks and failures, I think about Lincoln in 1855 as it gives me strength.
